Perineoplasty

The perineal incision performed during labor may not recover well in some cases. In these cases, the poor looking birth sutures can cause problems in women’s sexual life and esthetic appearance. Repair and removal of birth sutures is performed with surgical and laser methods.

WHAT IS EPISIOTOMY?

When the baby descends and comes out of the vaginal canal during labor, irregular and long-lasting tears may occur at the entrance of the vagina or internal canal. To avoid such tears, the birth process is facilitated by making an incision with scissors in the area we call “perineum”.

This incision made with scissors during labor is called “perineotomy” or “episiotomy”.

The episiotomy is then closed with sutures placed in this area. In this way, the perineal sutures heal even during the postpartum period. In some cases, the episiotomy does not heal well, and even after healing, a scar may remain in the perineal area.

IN WHAT CONDITIONS DOES THE EPISIOTOMY HEAL BADLY?

In some cases, the episiotomy incision during vaginal delivery may become longer or heal poorly for technical reasons. In addition, the sutures may open due to infection.

HOW ARE BIRTH SUTURES REPAIRED?

Usually they are remedied by surgically removing the scar tissue in the perineal area. Usually this is done together with vaginoplasty. The procedure usually takes one hour. Before the operation, drawings are made to better determine the surgical area.

WHAT BENEFITS DO THE REPAIR OF BIRTH STITCHES PROVIDE?

After the perineal incision is restored by this operation, called perineoplasty, the opening of the vagina is closed, the folds of the labia majora are relatively reduced and the vaginal entrance is tightened. In this way, both aesthetic and functional benefits are achieved.

Labiaplasty and fat injection or hyaluronic acid filler of the labia majora can be performed in the same session.

In the period after surgery, it is normal to experience a little pain, bleeding and a feeling of tightness. 2-3 days of ice compression and simple painkillers can relieve these problems.

Cosmetic surgery in the vagina and perineal area is usually performed by gynecologists. The experience of the gynecologist performing the surgery, the number of genital plastic surgeries performed, and training in cosmetic surgery are the factors that play a role in success. Very good results can be achieved with the right surgical techniques.

The surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia. Usually, no hospitalization is required. It is recommended to practice sexual abstinence for 6 weeks.
