Labiaplasty

The procedure to reduce the labia minora when the labia minora are large, flaccid or asymmetrical due to congenital reasons or puberty is called labiaplasty.

WHO NEEDS LABIAPLASTY?

If a patient wants labiaplasty because her labia minora are abnormally large and/or flaccid or asymmetrical, labiaplasty can be performed.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LABIAPLASTY FOR THE PATIENT?

Abnormally large labia minora can cause psychological or medical problems. The patient may feel uncomfortable wearing tight clothing such as leggings, bikinis or bathing suits where the labia minora are visible. It can also lead to a lack of self-confidence and negatively affect sexual life.

On the other hand, it can also cause hygienic problems, recurrent vaginal infections and bad odour.

Also, due to push in, it may cause pain during sexual intercourse.

IS THERE AGE LIMIT FOR LABIAPLASTY?

Labiaplasty can be performed on people over the age 18 without upper age limit.

HOW IS LABIAPLASTY PERFORMED?

Depending on the patient’s preference, the procedure can be performed under general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia or local anesthesia. A lancet can be used for the incision, or laser and cautery can be used, depending on the surgeon’s preference.

When planning the procedure, personal drawings are made, taking into account the anatomy of the patient’s genitals. Labiaplasty is not just about reducing the size of the labia minora. Additional folds of skin around the labia minora and clitoris are removed to create an esthetic and natural appearance. If local anesthesia is planned, the area where the incision will be made is numbed with medication and anesthesia is provided. After the excess skin is removed, the area is sutured. An absorbable and very fine suture material is used.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF LASER LABIAPALSTY OVER SURGERY?

Laser labiaplasty allows for faster recovery and a more cosmetic appearance than surgery. In suitable cases it is possible to perform the operation with the laser without using sutures.

CAN OTHER GENITAL AESTHETIC SURGERIES BE PERFORMED WITH LABIAPLASTY?

If necessary, during labiaplasty, a procedure to remove sagging of the clitoris, called clitoral hoodoplasty, can also be performed.

In the same session, if necessary, vaginoplasty can be performed without pain, anaesthesia, incision and therefore without bleeding. If present, birth sutures and tears can also be repaired.

HOW LONG DOES LABIAPLASTY TAKE?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that lasts about 1-1.5 hours.

IS THERE ANY RISK OF RECURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM AFTER LABIAPLASTY?

Labiaplasty provides a permanent and definitive solution. Recurrence after the surgery is not possible.

AFTER HOW LONG CAN PATIENTS RETURN THEIR SEXUAL LIFE?

After labiaplasty, the patient can resume her sexual life after 30 days.

IS SENSATION LOSS A RESULT OF LABIAPLASTY?

Since the patient is relieved psychologically and has self-confidence and has more contact with the clitoris after labiaplasty, which is a reduction of the labia minora, an increase in sensation is expected.

CAN LABIAPLASTY BE PERFOMED ON SINGLE PEOPLE?

Since labiaplasty does not affect the hymen, it can be performed without hesitation in single persons.

ARE THERE RISKS OF LABIAPLASTY?

As with all surgical procedures, there is a risk of bleeding and infection. This can be avoided by following the recommendations and hygiene rules and by taking the medication regularly.

WHEN CAN A PERSON RETURN HER DAILY LIFE AFTER LABIAPLASTY?

The patient can return to her daily routine after a few days after the labiaplasty.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GIVE NATURAL BIRTH AFTER LABIAPLASTY?

Labiaplasty does not affect the way of delivery.
